On 30th December 2023, a demonstration programme on paddle-operated paddy threshers was organized at
Borgang Village, Marngar Cluster, Ri-Bhoi District. The initiative aimed to familiarize farmers with the handling and operation of paddle-operated
paddy threshers, facilitating efficient threshing of paddy crops and saving time and energy for farmers.
Er. Naseeb Singh, along with other experts, demonstrated the technical know-how of handling the
paddy thresher to the participating farmers. The demonstration provided farmers with practical insights into the operation and maintenance of
paddle-operated paddy threshers, ensuring proper utilization of the machinery for optimal results.
A total of seven farmers actively participated in the programme, engaging in the demonstration
and hands-on learning experience. The programme showcased two types of paddy threshers: single paddle operated and large size paddle operated,
enabling farmers to understand the differences and advantages of each model.
As part of the programme, two paddy threshers were handed over to the farmers for a period of
three weeks at Borgang village, Marngar. This initiative aimed to empower farmers by providing access to the machinery for practical use on their
farms, allowing them to experience the benefits firsthand and incorporate the technology into their agricultural practices.
The demonstration programme on paddle-operated paddy threshers yielded positive outcomes by
familiarizing farmers with the handling and operation of the machinery. By providing practical insights and hands-on experience, the programme
equipped farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively utilize paddle-operated paddy threshers for efficient threshing operations.
The provision of paddy threshers to farmers for a three-week period further facilitated technology
adoption and integration into farming practices. Farmers had the opportunity to use the machinery on their own farms, experiencing the benefits of
increased efficiency and productivity in paddy threshing operations firsthand.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. N. Uttam Singh (Senior Scientist & PI), Dr. Naseeb Singh (Scientist & Co PI), Lutmonhaki Dkhar (Senior Research Fellow),
and Wanbiang Dkhar (Project Assistant). Their coordination ensured the successful organization and implementation of the demonstration programme,
fostering technology transfer and adoption among farmers in the Marngar Cluster.
